Microsoft Exchange<\/a> 2010 uninstall wizard throws some errors unless you previously go through the following steps.

⚠<\/strong> This will remove all mailboxes, contacts, etc…! There’s no way back ⚠<\/strong>

We assume this is the last Exchange server. If not, be more specific on mailboxes to be removed, with -database for instance, or -server on connectors.

Remove user mailboxes but not AD user accounts!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get-mailbox | disable-mailbox<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Delete arbitration mailboxes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Disable-Mailbox -Arbitration -DisableLastArbitrationMailboxAllowed<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Remove offline address book<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Get-OfflineAddressBook | Remove-OfflineAddressBook<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Remove connectors<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Get-SendConnector | Remove-SendConnector<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Finally remove Public folder. This is a little bit tricky since Exchange does need one public folder database.
It can be removed with the tool ADSIEdit<\/a>

Run ADSIedit
Right click on Configuration and Settings…
Under “Select a well known Naming Context:” choose “Configuration”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then browse to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CN=Configuration,DC=DOMAIN,DC=LOCAL\nCN=Services\nCN=Microsoft Exchange\nCN=EXCHANGE_ORG\nCN=Administrative Groups\nCN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)\nCN=Databases\nCN=PUBLIC_FOLDER_DATABASE<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n

Now you can delete the Public Folder Database and uninstall Microsoft Exchange 2010 with no hassle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
